Sound Sense is a carefully designed and thoughtfully curated program created by the Kennedy at the Mad Composer Lab that explores the fascinating Science of Sound and its deep connection to the world of Music. The diverse sounds we experience in nature can tell us about the passage of time, changes in weather conditions, potential dangers in our surroundings, and even bring us a sense of calm and tranquility. By actively listening, we can also assess the health of our environment and how it interacts with us. This engaging and informative podcast covers these compelling topics and much more. In episode one, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the soothing, tranquil sounds of Dry Creek Falls.

Tanka for Violoncello

This is an example of how to process and form to create a piece of music. A tanka is a Japanese poetry form consisting of 31 syllables. The form is structured in an upper cadence of 5 7 5 and a lower cadence of 7 7 totaling 31. This piece uses a 6 notes scale and uses the triangle method as a compositional process. This recording is a quick reading by cellist, Laszlo Mezo, at the end of the Lakrymosa recording session.
