Ecoacoustics

is the study of the relationship of humans and their environment using sound. Much of the data used in Mad Composer Lab Acoustic Sound Installations is also made available for use by scientists and other researchers interested in the phenomenon we call sound.

Operation SoundCheck is an effort to collect and archive sounds for research and creative purposes. Also designed to foster meaningful conversations and action regarding changing climate. If you would like to join the Sound Ecology team in Portland, Joshua Tree, or Anchorage, please contact the MCL. Research expeditions are supported by patrons of the MCL Operation Soundcheck initiative.
