The Mad Composer Lab

Founded by Kennedy Verrett, the Mad Composer Lab (MCL) is a creative initiative dedicated to pushing musical boundaries, inspired by the free-spirited legacy of American innovators like Julius Eastman, Lou Harrison, Cecil Taylor, and Pauline Oliveros. The MCL bridges art and research by combining Soundscape Ecology—the study of human-environmental sound relationships—with a style ranging from ancient folk to contemporary electronic soundscapes. Shared through live performances, recordings, and digital platforms, MCL explores themes of nature, spirituality, and social commentary to cultivate an inclusive space for artistic experimentation and expression.
